Not all cavities will feel the same. In fact, most can’t be felt at all! When you come into our office, we always look for decay and anything else that may be amiss during your oral exam. While advanced decay may need root canal treatment, smaller amounts of decay don’t require such treatments.
In these instances, we’ll recommend composite fillings to stop the decay. This will prevent the decay from growing and eliminate the chance for a root canal in the future.
Here’s what you can expect during a dental filling treatment…
- We’ll remove all decay from your tooth, leaving intact healthy tooth structure
- Several layers of the composite filling material is bonded to your tooth’s surface, “filling” the space where the decay was removed
- We’ll shape and polish the composite material to ensure a perfect bite and natural look
